EPA releases critical Press Release, Proposed Plan, and Feasibility Study for the Gowanus Canal Clean-Up. Public Invited to Comment!

The EPA, keeping to their deadline given to the Gowanus Canal CAG/Community Advisory Group, has released the Proposed Plan before the year's end.  The public can read:
the Press Release, the Proposed Plan, and the Feasibility Study at the EPA website or at 
the Carrroll Garden's Library.   The Feasibility Study deals with CSO's/Combined Sewer Overflows.

The EPA will hold public meetings on January 23, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Public School 58, 330 Smith Street, Brooklyn and on January 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the NYCHA Miccio Community Center, 110 West 9th Street, Brooklyn to discuss the proposed plan and answer questions.

The EPA will accept public comments on its proposed plan until March 28, 2013.

With the "Protect Our Homes" petition, CORD was formed in May, 2007. This petition arose as an overwhelmingly negative response to the coming of the over-sized 360 Smith Street Development at the corner of Smith Street and Second Place (Aka Oliver House; aka 131 Second Place). This petition, which had well over three thousand signatures, led to a new zoning text amendment in summer of 2008.
